Luca Engstler takes Sachsenring pole position

Luca Engstler continued his strong form in TCR Germany by taking pole position at the Sachsenring. The young German put his Hyundai i30 N TCR on pole by as little as 0.025 seconds ahead of Team Honda ADAC Sachsen’s Mike Halder, with championship contender Harald Proczyk third in his Opel Astra TCR.

Q1 saw the likes of Antti Buri, Dominik Fugel and Benjamin Leuchter all out of the top 12 shootout, just ahead of the Besagroup Racing Renault Mégane of Alex Morgan. Pascal Eberle will line up fourth in his Steibel Motorsport Cupra TCR, ahead of Team Engstler’s Volkswagen Golf which is driven by Justin Häußermann.

Theo Coicaud finished sixth in the second Team Engstler Hyundai, ahead of Max Hesse’s Audi RS 3 LMS and Volkswagen driver Niko Kankkunen. Michelle Halder will start ninth in her Cupra, with championship leader Niels Langeveld tenth and on pole position for Race 2.

The first race of the weekend is scheduled for today at 12:45 CEST.
