Yokohama replaces Hankook as TCR Germany championship tyre supplier

Yokohama will replace Hankook as the official tyre supplier for the TCR Germany championship from 2019 onwards, it has been announced.

The Japanese firm already supplies tyres for the ADAC GT Masters, which TCR Germany supports, as well as the World Touring Car Cup.

President of Yohohama Europe, Keishi Hashimoto, said: “We look forward to delivering our Yokohama tyres to the ADAC TCR Germany and working with all teams and officials.”

“Yokohama has motorsport in his DNA and supports numerous motorsport championships and races around the world with its know-how and technology,” Keishi Hashimoto, President of Yokohama Europe said. “Yokohama is always looking for ways to improve its products, to develop high-performance tires that bring champions to the racetrack and provide environmentally friendly and safe tyres.”

ADAC Motorsport director Thomas Voss added: “I welcome Yokohama as the new tyre partner of ADAC TCR Germany. For many years now, Yokohama has become a renowned tyre supplier in touring goods sports and is also a tyre partner of the World Touring Car Championship.”

Meanwhile, the calendar for 2019 has also been announced, with the same seven venues remaining unchanged for the new season.

The only change is that the Sachsenring will host the final round for the first time, taking over from Hockenheim.

The championship will start at Oschersleben on the final weekend of April and will also visit the Czech Republic (Most), Austria (Red Bull Ring) and the Netherlands (Zandvoort).
