Mitchell Cheah confirms TCR Germany move

Mitchell Cheah has confirmed that he will switch to the TCR Germany championship for the 2019 season.

Cheah finished second in TCR Asia last year and secured a top four in the inaugural TCR Malaysia championship season despite only taking part in the final meeting of the campaign – where he secured a win and second place at the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR.

The Malaysian racer will remain with Team Engstler as he makes the move into European competition, with his debut in TCR Germany championship coming at Oschersleben in late April.

A full season in Germany will be followed by Cheah’s wild card outing in the World Touring Car Cup at Sepang in December.

“I’m happy to announce that I will do that the full season of ADAC TCR Germany with Engstler Motorsport, alongside my wildcard entry for the final round of FIA WTCR in December at Sepang,” he said.

“Big thanks to my sponsors for giving me the opportunity to pursue my racing career and for believing in me. It’s going to be a new exciting adventure ahead and I’m really looking forward to doing my best to make everyone proud.”
