Andreas Ahlberg leads snow-disrupted first practice at Knutstorp
Micke Kågered Racing’s Andreas Ahlberg led the first practice session at Knutstorp in his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR, setting his best time before light snow began to fall after five minutes, with no times coming close to his early benchmark.
Ahlberg’s time of 1:03.001 was set early on before the light drizzle turned to a light snow shower, making the conditions extra tricky for the championship runners, now competing on Yokohama rubber for the first time.
Ahlberg’s closest challenger was Hannes Morin, making his TCR Scandinavia championship debut, second fastest in the Brink Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS.
Tomas Engström was third quickest in the second of Micke Kågered Racing’s Volkswagens, with Andre Kiil fourth quickest in the Brovallen Design Audi RS 3 LMS.
Andreas Wernersson was fifth in the second of the Brink Audis.
2017 champion Robert Dahlgren was eighth in his PWR Racing Cupra TCR, just ahead of team-mate Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky.
The safety car was out for much of the last third of the session when Åhlin-Kottulinsky’s Cupra stopped on the back straight.
The second practice session is scheduled for 12:50 CEST.
