Mattias Andersson promoted to third following penalty for Tomas Engström

Mattias Andersson has been promoted to third in the second race at Knutstorp following a five-second penalty handed to Micke Kågered Racing’s Tomas Engström.

Engström had crossed the line third, after Robert Dahlgren’s ten second time penalty was applied following an earlier incident with Brink Motorsport’s Hannes Morin, while Engström was penalised after contact with the Audi of Tobias Brink on the final lap.

The contact allowed Mattias Andersson through to fourth. Engström was given a five-second penalty which dropped him behind both Andersson and Brink to fifth, and handed Andersson a podium result after the MA:GP Honda driver had charged back after switching to half-slicks on lap six.

“Engström totally torpedoed me, and I lost positions to both him and Mattias,” said Tobias Brink to TouringCarTimes. “It’s a shame but that’s racing I guess. Engström got a penalty but it still means Mattias still got ahead of me.”
