Robert Dahlgren “feels at home” after Skellefteå practice

Robert Dahlgren, the only driver from Skellefteå, the town near the TCR Scandinavian Touring Car Championship’s newest circuit, has lauded the new track and says the car and track feels perfect, after topping all three practice sessions in his PWR Racing Cupra TCR.

The brand-new facility is being raced on for the first time this weekend, with Dahlgren having no real advantage compared to his rivals, he explains.

“I’ve done two laps here, in a road car, before they had kerbs, before it was painted, going slowly, while there were trucks on the track, and that’s it,” said Dahlgren to TouringCarTimes.

“It’s very different to any other track in Sweden. It’s more like an old school international race track, where you have to keep momentum up all the time, and if you make a mistake it costs a lot more. It’s a trickier track than I expected.”

Dahlgren was more than a second clear around the 4.2km circuit in the first two tests, while things closed up in the third test, although there was a safety car intervention.

“It feels fantastic. The car is the best I’ve driven for a long time,” he said.

“It’s a shame that not that many cars have come to this race,” he added. “It’s a nice place here, I know it’s far away, but we have to go down south quite often. It’d be really nice to have more cars here and for them to see the scenery.”
