Andreas Ahlberg upset with pace compared to Audi and Cupra

Micke Kågered Racing Volkswagen driver was disappointed with his second race at Skellefteå, saying a desperate lunge at the hairpin was his only chance to make headway against the superior Audis and Cupras.

Ahlberg took his third podium finish of the season in Race 1, a bit behind the battle between the Cupra of PWR Racing’s Robert Dahlgren and Brink Motorsport’s Andreas Wernersson’s Audi, while fighting to keep back the second PWR Cupra of Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky.

In Race 2, Ahlberg started from second on the grid but dropped behind three cars at the start, and then ran intro trouble on lap four at the hairpin.

“The second race was bad actually,” said Ahlberg to TouringCarTimes. “We didn’t have the top speed here against the Audis and the Cupras, so at the hairpin my only option was to go for it, but they easily came from behind.

“The Audi and Cupra is so fast on the straights, so it’s hard for us. The second race was quite disappointing, as we had the pace to at least be P2.”
