Tobias Brink disappointed to just miss pole position

Tobias Brink missed out on his first Scandinavian touring car pole position by just 15-thousandths of a second in qualifying at Falkenberg, with the PWR Racing Cupra TCR of Robert Dahlgren stealing it back on his second lap.

Brink was a fraction shy of Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky’s time in the first part of qualifying, before he was able to find another tenth of a second in Q2 to claim provisional pole, while the two PWR Racing drivers were a couple of tenths back.

Both improved on the second runs however, with Dahlgren slotting in 0.015 ahead and Åhlin-Kottulinsky 0.035 seconds behind, leaving Brink to start on the front row in his Audi tomorrow.

“We expected to be a bit quicker than we were in FP2, and it feels like we bounced back in qualifying and got the car where we wanted to have it,” said Brink to TouringCarTimes.

“After our run in Q1, I felt quite confident. In Q2, I made just a tiny, tiny, tiny mistake in sector one, and when you’re that close, that was enough to stop us from getting the pole today. So when you’re that close, you’re always disappointed, but P2 is good, we have a good starting position, so we’ll get out heads down and give Robert a big challenge.”
