Harald Proczyk to the fore in FP2 at the Nürburgring

Reigning champion Harald Proczyk set the pace in second and final practice for this weekend’s TCR Germany championship round at the Nürburgring.

Proczyk ensured Hyundai drivers swept Friday’s practice sessions at the Nürburgring’s 3.629 km sprint configuration, topping the times in FP2 after fellow i30 N TCR runner Thierry Neuville went fastest this morning.

Proczyk led the way a tenth ahead of TOPCAR Sport Cupra racer Julien Apothéloz, making it an Austrian/Swiss 1-2 at the top of the timesheets.

Third quickest was the impressive Mitchell Cheah (VW Team Oettinger), who was announced earlier this year to have been handed a wild card entry for his home World Touring Car Cup round in Malaysia at the end of the year.

Hyundai’s Theo Coicaud followed next, with only 0.132s separating the top four heading into qualifying tomorrow.

Mike Halder completed the top five, distanced by another three tenths, aboard his ADAC Sachsen Honda.

Proczyk’s session-best time of 1:35.153 did not quite match WRC regular Neuville’s 1:34.716 recorded in opening practice, although the rallying star has the advantage of new tyres this weekend thanks to his status as guest starter.

Neuville was seventh fastest in second practice.

Coming up next this weekend is qualifying at 08.30 CEST on Saturday morning.
