Mattias Andersson aiming to get the jump on Dahlgren at the start

Mattias Andersson is still searching for his first victory of 2019, and knows he has a good shot tomorrow after a strong qualifying session at Karlskoga, where he qualified less than a tenth of a second behind Robert Dahlgren’s Cupra.

The MA:GP Honda driver has been able to make use of the Civic FK2’s famed strong starts many times this year, but how has the opportunity to leap into the lead ahead of Dahlgren tomorrow, and hopes he’ll be able to do so and hold him back and take his first win since Falkenberg last year.

“We weren’t quickest in practice, but we were thereabouts, but in qualifying it was just a matter of putting a lap together when the time was perfect, and we were only eight-hundredths behind Robert, so I’m very happy with that,” said Andersson to TouringCarTimes.

Reflecting on his starting advantage, Andersson said:

“The Cupras have been improving their starts also. If it’s dry, we normally do a good start, but if it’s wet, we will see.

“It’s easy to make mistakes in the rain, or you could end up with a car in the side of you, so I’d prefer it to be dry, but there’s nothing we can do about that – so we’ll just try to do a good start, and after that we know how to be wide!”
