Tobias Johansson running special livery on touring car return
Tobias Johansson’s Brovallen Design Audi RS 3 LMS is running a livery reminiscent of the team’s first victory at Knutstorp, which happened in the 2001 STCC season this weekend at Karlskoga.
Johansson is making his touring car return after eight years away this weekend – last racing in the 2011 season in a SEAT León S2000.
The Brovallen Design car is running #99 and a livery featuring red strikes and a blue guideline, based on the Semcon-sponsored car they ran on their Super Touring Audi A4 when Johansson took his first victory with the team.
“It’s the same livery from 2001, when we won our first race, and it was the first win for a privateer in the STCC,” said Johansson to TouringCarTimes. “In those days, there was a really big difference between the privateers and the factory teams – we didn’t even have the same tyres.
“It was a good memory and that’s why we picked this design for it.”
Johansson was fourth fastest in the first practice session at Karlskoga, splitting the two Audis of Hannes Morin and Andreas Wernersson of the championship-leading Brink Motorsport team.
“It was OK first practice. I’m still learning,” he added. “We were here last Wednesday to do some laps; this track is our home race circuit, so I’ve found the track pretty well, but it’s not so easy to find the car.”
