Tomas Engström tops the second practice session at Karlskoga

Kågered Racing’s Tomas Engström was fastest of all in his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR in the final practice session at Karlskoga, with rain starting to fall in the final moments, hampering any late improvements.

The two Kågered Racing Volkswagens of Engström and team-mate Andreas Ahlberg were quick from the start, before Mattias Andersson again put his MA:GP Honda Civic TCR on top for the first ten minutes of the session.

Robert Dahlgren then went fastest on his first flying lap, ten minutes in, with a time of 1:07.016. This time held the PWR Racing Cupra driver on top for the mid-part of the practice session.

With just under ten minutes to go, Engström then went faster still, the second driver today to go under 1:07.

This put his Kågered Volkswagen fastest just as raindrops began to fall, with no further improvements coming in the final minutes, leaving the Swedish touring car veteran fastest ahead of Dahlgren and Andersson.

Andreas Wernersson was the best-placed of the Audis in fourth, ahead of Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky’s PWR Racing Cupra.

Albin Wärnelöv and Andreas Ahlberg’s Volkswagens followed, with the three Audis of Tobias Brink, Hannes Morin and Tobias Johansson completing the top ten.

Qualifying is next and takes place at 15:15 CEST.
