Tobias Brink wins Karlskoga Race 2 as Dahlgren crashes out

Tobias Brink has closed up significantly on Robert Dahlgren after the Audi driver won from pole position in the second race at Gelleråsen Arena, while Robert Dahlgren was eliminated in a first lap accident in his PWR Racing Cupra.

Brink launched away from pole position ahead of the PWR Racing Cupra of Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky, while both the Kågered Racing Volkswagen of Andreas Ahlberg and the MA:GP Honda of Mattias Andersson made lightning starts and ran around either side of Tomas Engström’s Volkswagen.

As Andersson headed up the right-hand side and against the barrier, the two made contact, with Engström spinning across the track and collecting the nose of Dahlgren’s car, with both drivers eliminated from the race.

Up front, Brink now led from Ahlberg, who’d passed Åhlin-Kottulinsky down into Turn 1 and the three cars broke away from the Audi of Andreas Wernersson, who was now up to fourth ahead of Andersson’s Honda.

The race settled down with no one able to make a move, with Ahlberg keeping Brink honest throughout the 17 laps, but the Brink Motorsport driver withstood the pressure to claim his second win of the season.

Ahlberg and Åhlin-Kottulinsky completed the podium, with Wernersson fourth and Andersson fifth, though the Honda driver is under investigation for the incident at the start.

Brink’s victory now closes him up to 15 points of Dahlgren, while Brink Motorsport launch themselves back into the lead of the teams’ standings by 19 points, heading to the next round at Jyllandsringen in Denmark in three weeks’ time.
