Casper Elgaard confirmed for Jyllandsringen in a Honda

Four-time Danish Touring Car champion Casper Elgaard will join the TCR Scandinavia championship races at Jyllandsringen this weekend in a Honda Civic Type R FK8 TCR.

“I am really glad to be back and I have for a long time wanted to try TCR. It is a cool class that I have followed the last couple of year and I think it can become really interesting,” said Elgaard to boxengasse.dk.

“That we can fight against the Swedish driver is an extra nice challenge that I am keen to take on. There are some really talented drivers in that field.”

Elgaard’s entry will be run in a cooperation between Massive Motorsport and JAS Motorsport, the constructors of the TCR Hondas.

“JAS will bring the car and some staff, the rest will be my crew from Massive. It will be a good opportunity to get into the TCR class and in my opinion, this is the right class for Danish motorsport,” said Elgaard.

The last time the 41-year-old raced a front-wheel driven car was in 2011, driving an S2000 specification Honda Accord for two races in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.

“I haven’t driven a FWD car since 2011, so I am a bit behind. But on the other hand, I am the one who has driven the most laps around Jyllandsringen, so I trust that experience will help me along the way. And I am not here to play second violin anyway,” said Elgaard.
