Casper Elgaard and Kim Lund excluded from Jyllandsringen Race 2

Danish drivers Casper Elgaard and Kim Lund were both excluded from the results of the second race at Jyllandsringen for their parts in the two crashes on the opening and final laps.

Lund, racing for his own Madbull Racing team, was fighting down towards the first corner at the start alongside Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky’s Cupra and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR of Martin Jensen, when he lost control of his Cupra TCR DSG on the wet part of the track, and slid into Jensen’s car, eliminating them both.

Massive Motorsport driver Elgaard meanwhile was in fifth position, having lost a spot to the PWR Racing Cupra of Robert Dahlgren, but had caught back up to the Swede in the final laps as Dahlgren harried Hannes Morin’s Audi for the final podium position.

A mistake by both drivers on the penultimate lap opened the door up on the inside for Elgaard, who overtook Dahlgren and was then battling Morin down into Turn 1, before he also hit a wet spot and careered into Morin’s RS 3 LMS, gifting Dahlgren the podium spot.

“I’m still enough of a racing driver that when I smell a podium, I fight for it – but the problem is I kept being pushed onto the wet, and by the end I was just completely on the wet part,” explained Elgaard to TouringCarTimes.

“I tried to brake it a bit earlier, and then I tried to go back on the dry and I hit a puddle and that just locked my fronts. I maybe should have lifted and played safe, but I’m still a racing driver.”

Elgaard was classified 11th in the provisional result having completed more than 70% of the race distance, while Lund was a DNF, but both drivers were subsequently excluded from the results for the incidents.
