Dominik Fugel heads Fugel Sport 1-2 in Sachsenring qualifying

Dominik Fugel headed a Fugel Sport 1-2 in qualifying at Sachsenring, with team-mate Mike Halder just 93 thousands of a second behind. The Honda drivers have dominated the TCR Germany championship season finale weekend so far, topping all practice and qualifying sessions.

Reigning champion Harald Proczyk was third fastest in the wet qualifying session, despite the Hyundai i30 N TCR being the only car carrying the maximum 60kg of compensation weight. The HP Racing International was however over a second from the pole time.

Former championship leader and Audi RS 3 LMS driver Antti Buri was fourth fastest, just 0.024 seconds behind title rival Proczyk.

TCR Germany newcomer Sami Taoufik impressed behind the wheel of the Comtoyou Racing prepared Audi RS 3 LMS, claiming the fifth fastest time, just 77 thousands of a second from Buri.

Championship leader Max Hesse was sixth fastest, two thousands of a second ahead of Team Engstler team-mate Theo Coicaud in seventh.

Münnich Motorsport team owner René Münnich, also making his TCR Germany debut this weekend, claimed eighth on the grid ahead of fellow Honda driver Marcel Fugel.

Opel driver Philipp Regensperger finished tenth and will therefore start the second reversed-grid race from pole position.

The first race of the season finale starts on Saturday at 13:15 CEST.
