Robert Dahlgren leads the way in first practice at Mantorp Park
PWR Racing’s Robert Dahlgren has set the first benchmark for the weekend in practice at Mantorp Park, as he set the pace despite running with the maximum possible compensation weight and success ballast onboard his Cupra TCR.
Carrying 60kg of compensation weight, and 20kg of success ballast, the 2017 champion was over six-tenths of a second clear of Mattias Andersson’s completely unballasted Honda Civic TCR at the end of the 30-minute session.
Tobias Brink made a late improvement to pip his Brink Motorsport Audi team-mate Hannes Morin to third fastest, but was still eight-tenths off of Dahlgren’s time in his Audi RS 3 LMS.
Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky was fifth quickest in her PWR Racing Cupra, leading the Audi of Andreas Wernersson and the returning Volkswagen of Kågered Racing’s Tomas Engström.
Andreas Ahlberg was eighth quickest in his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR, with Daniel Haglöf breaking in the PWR Racing team’s spare Cupra in the session, setting the ninth fastest time, 1.7 seconds away from Dahlgren’s pace, with Kristian Moe Saetheren rounding out the top ten in his Insight Racing Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR.
11 cars took part in the session, with Peter ‘Poker’ Wallenberg unfortunately missing the whole session in his Cupra TCR after setting his fire extinguisher off before leaving the pit lane, and then was hit by Albin Warnelöv’s Volkswagen.
The second test is scheduled for 13:25 CEST.
