STCC TCR Scandinavia announce streaming service

Organisers of the STCC TCR Scandinavia series have announced the launch of a new service that will see the 2020 season broadcast live online.

The series is set to race across a reduced calendar of four events that will start at Gelleråsen Arena in August, before rounds at Skellefteå Drivecenter Arena, Mantorp Park and Ring Knutstorp round out the campaign.

With the series preparing for the possibility that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic could force the events to run without spectators present, the new STCC + platform will ensure that fans are able to see all of the action from their own home.

“STCC + is a key part of our strengthened investment in STCC TCR Scandinavia, where we provide fans and partners with a solid live coverage throughout the season,” Micke Bern, head of STCC, said.

“Given the pandemic, this will be an extra important tool for the championship in terms of our ability to carry out the season in a safe and attractive way for all involved.”

As well as showing all four race weekends, the official pre-season test at Gelleråsen Arena in July will also be shown to fans, with the final hour of the test hosting a shootout where drivers will be given ten minutes in which to set a quick time on new tyres in a bid to be crowned as ‘pre-season champion’.

“We will start with an hour live broadcast of a shootout during the preseason test,” Bern added. “This is to give a taste of the intense season we have ahead of us.”

STCC + will also feature a number of studio based programmes, including one where Daniel Haglöf, Fredrik Lestrup and Tobias Brink will reflect on the dramatic 2019 season finale.
