Hannes Morin dominates second Gelleråsen practice

Brink Motorsport driver Hannes Morin dominated the second STCC TCR Scandinavia free practice session of the Gelleråsen Arena opener, lowering the unofficial TCR lap record even further with 1:05.892.

The Audi RS 3 LMS driver was close to seven tenths of a second quicker than Kågered Racing driver Emil Persson in second place and close to eight tenths of a second faster than reigning champion Robert Dahlgren in third.

Morin’s team-mate Tobias Brink was fourth fastest, with Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky in fifth with the new Cupra León Competición, 0.887 seconds from the top.

Oliver Söderström, who was third fastest in the first session, claimed position six ahead of Andreas Ahlberg of Kågered Racing.

Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR driver Rob Huff missed the first minutes of the session as the team was forced to change gearbox. Huff ended up in eighth position, 0.973 seconds from Morin.

Brovallen Design driver Magnus Gustavsen and Honda Racing Sweden driver Mattias Andersson rounded off the top ten.

Kågered Racing driver Mikael Karlsson selected to not take part in the session as he reported that he was “already happy with the car”.

Next up is qualifying, starting at 16:55 CEST.
