Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky fights food poisoning to top five qualifying result
Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky fought food poisoning during the STCC TCR Scandinavia qualifying at Gelleråsen Arena but still managed to claim two top-five finishes.
“I am really happy. I had food poisoning last night so it was really tough this morning,” said Åhlin-Kottulinsky.
“Despite limited feedback from me, the team managed to put together a really good car.”
The 27-year-old finished fifth in Q1 and fourth in Q2, just two thousands of a second from 2012 WTCC champion Rob Huff.
The PWR Racing driver had only got two test days with her new Cupra León Competición ahead of the season start due to delays in the delivery of the new race cars to the Swedish-based team.
“I have only driven the car for two days so far, so to get such a good feeling for the car feels promising. I am going to sleep well tonight.”
