Lestrup Racing Team appeal the penalty for Rob Huff (updated)
Lestrup Racing Team has filed a protest regarding the five-second penalty that dropped Rob Huff from second to fourth in the first STCC TCR Scandinavia race of the weekend at Gelleråsen Arena.
The 2012 WTCC champion had caught Tobias Brink’s Audi RS 3 LMS towards the end of the race and got past for second place with some contact that the stewards found too rough.
Huff however had another view of the incident.
“Brink just out-braked himself in the hairpin and went wide. I just stayed on the line and then he just came back very aggressively onto the line, hitting me,” said Huff.
“I mean from the steward’s camera I can see what they are saying because it’s an outside camera from the opposite direction. But once they’ve seen my camera I am sure they will reverse the decision.”
Huff started second but dropped down to fifth at the start, fighting his way back past three cars during the race.
“I had a slight issue with the clutch so didn’t get a great start. Then I came back obviously. We had a really good race. The race pace is really good in the car and I look forward to the remaining two races,” said Huff.
UPDATE: The appeal has been rejected by the stewards and the result is unchanged, meaning that Huff is fourth.
