Robert Dahlgren wins as Tobias Brink is hit with jump start penalty

Robert Dahlgren claimed the maiden STCC TCR Scandinavia victory for the new Cupra León Competición in the second race of the weekend at Gelleråsen Arena while Tobias Brink, who crossed the finishing line first, was hit with a post-race jump start penalty.

Brink started from pole position but moved just before the lights went out, resulting in the stewards handing him a 20-second penalty that was applied after the finish.

The Brink Motorsport driver held the lead throughout the race while Dahlgren had to look in his mirrors in the closing stages of the race.

Lestrup Racing Team driver Rob Huff started third and gained on Dahlgren as the race neared its end. Huff was right on the rear bumper of the reigning champion on the final lap but was unable to get past.

Race 1 winner Oliver Söderström started sixth and made way up through the order during the race.

His first rival was Honda driver Mattias Andersson, making the move stick with some contact at the hairpin.

The Lestrup Racing Team driver then caught PWR Racing driver Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky who was struggling with an exhaust system that had come loose.

Söderström made the move at the hairpin again and crossed the line to score his second podium finish in two races.

There was inter-team action within Kågered Racing in the fight for sixth position. Emil Persson made a decisive move on team-mate Mikael Karlsson at Turn 1, also allowing Andreas Ahlberg to get past.

Dahlgren won the race by 0.249 seconds ahead of Huff, with Söderström a distant third, six seconds behind.

Åhlin-Kottulinsky finished fourth in her repaired Cupra, with Andersson in fifth ahead of the Kågered Racing driver Persson.

Hannes Morin finished seventh ahead of Ahlberg in eighth, who secured the Race 3 reversed grid pole position.

Brink dropped down to ninth due to his penalty, with Karlsson rounding off the top ten.

The third and final race starts at 15:40 CEST.
