Nico Gruber claims dominating Hockenheim pole for Team Engstler

Team Engstler driver Nico Gruber was half a second clear of the remaining TCR Germany championship field in qualifying for the first race at Hockenheim.

Fellow Hyundai driver Jan Seyffert was closest in second place, 0.516 seconds behind.

Guest driver Felix Wimmer made a strong first appearance with the new Cupra León Competición to claim third spot on the grid, just 59 thousands of a second from Seyffert.

Finnish driver Antti Buri was close as well in fourth position, just 0.024 seconds from Wimmer.

Lubner Motorsport driver Philipp Walsdorf put the Opel Astra TCR in fifth position on the grid, eight tenths from pole, with Volkswagen driver René Kircher in sixth position.

Marcel Fugel was the top Honda driver in seventh position ahead of HP Racing Internation driver Harald Proczyk in eighth position, securing the reversed grid pole position for Race 2.

Championship leader Dominik Fugel had a tough qualifying session, forced to remain in the pits as the team struggled with a technical issue.

The first race of the weekend starts at 11:50 CEST tomorrow.
