Oliver Söderström: “Right now I just feel like smashing something”
Oliver Söderström had a nightmare STCC TCR Scandinavia weekend at Mantorp Park with two retirements and a ninth place finish, dropping well down the order of the standings ahead of the final race weekend.
“Right now I just feel like smashing something,” said Oliver Söderström.
“We had the opportunity to fight for the title, especially after the strong qualifying yesterday. Now I just want to forget it all.”
The Lestrup Racing Team driver had qualified second, beating team-mate and 2012 WTCC champion Rob Huff, for the second race.
But the first race ended on the warm up lap with a broken driveshaft and the second race ended in the gravel after a wheel came off.
He managed to fight his way up to ninth position from the back of the grid in the third race but was left upset over the driving standards.
“It’s a lot about moving under braking, a lot of people are unexperienced further down the field,” said Söderström.
“I had an incident with Emil Persson that left my wheel bent and I dropped places after that. I’m just going to head to the season finale and try to claim a victory and do my very best.”
Söderström is 63 points from championship leader Tobias Brink with 80 points left to fight for in the last race.
