Robert Dahlgren beats Tobias Brink to vital final pole by 0.073 seconds

Reigning STCC TCR Scandinavia champion Robert Dahlgren has claimed two vital pole positions in the final qualifying session of the season, scoring five points to the championship to move him up to second place on equal points with Rob Huff.

Dahlgren beat Huff by 0.052 seconds in Q1, with Lestrup Racing Team team-mate Oliver Söderström in third, just 0.084 seconds from pole.

Championship leader Brink, who carries 60kg of compensation weight, was fourth fastest ahead of Andreas Ahlberg and Hannes Morin.

The PWR Racing duo of Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky and Daniel Haglöf claimed positions seven and eight, with Honda Racing Sweden driver Mattias Andersson in ninth.

STCC newcomer Kevin Engman impressed by qualifying tenth for Brovallen Design behind the wheel of his Audi RS 3 LMS.

The second and final qualifying session had Dahlgren on pole with the time 59.351, just 73 thousands of a second ahead of Audi RS 3 LMS driver Brink.

Söderström and Huff swapped places for the Q2 session, with Söderström third and Huff fourth.

Junior championship leader Morin was fifth fastest ahead of Kågered Racing driver Ahlberg.

Cupra team-mates Åhlin-Kottulinsky and Haglöf rounded off the top eight.

Brink heads the standings on 157 points, with Huff and Dahlgren second on 141 points.

The first race of the season finale weekend starts at 10:35 CEST tomorrow.
