Rob Huff claims 2020 STCC TCR Scandinavia title with Race 3 win

Rob Huff became the first non-Scandinavian driver since Roberto Colciago in 2002 to claim the STCC TCR Scandinavia title by winning the final race of the year at Knutstorp.

The Lestrup Racing Team driver won the race three seconds ahead of title rival and last year’s champion Robert Dahlgren.

Tobias Brink, who headed the standings ahead of the weekend, was unable to make a serious challenge for the title in the final race, finishing in seventh position.

Huff claimed the title on 209 points, seven points ahead of Dahlgren and 19 points ahead of Brink.

It was STCC newcomer Kevin Engman who claimed the lead on the opening lap from second on the grid. But the joy was short lived as the Brovallen Design driver was handed a 20-second penalty for a jump start.

Audi RS 3 LMS driver Brink tried to climb from sixth on the grid and made contact with Cupra driver Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky on two separate occasions.

Brink was handed warning while the PWR Racing driver was forced to retire.

Huff made his way past Engman for the lead on lap nine, with Dahlgren following past not long after.

Dahlgren then tried to hunt down Huff, but could not close the gap and had to settle for second place.

Mattias Andersson claimed the final podium position for Honda Racing Sweden ahead of the Kågered Racing duo of Andreas Ahlberg and Emil Persson.

Hannes Morin crossed the line in sixth position ahead of team-mate Brink.

Albin Wärnelöv rounded off the top eight in the final race of the 2020 season.
