Ciceley to switch from Mercedes A Class for 2021 campaign

The Ciceley Motorsport team has revealed that it will replace its existing Mercedes A Class with a new model for the 2021 BTCC season.

The team debuted the A Class back in 2014 to replace the Toyota Avensis it used for its debut in the series, and has gone on to take eight wins and 30 podiums with the car in the seasons that have followed – all of which have been scored by Adam Morgan.

An announcement on what car the team will run beyond the 2020 season will be made in due course.

“I’m really sad to be saying goodbye to my A-Class next weekend, and I am determined to say goodbye to her on a massive high,” Morgan said. “She has had great pace this year as [engineer] Steve Farrell has rediscovered the sweet spot. We have carried out loads of development work on the car and the time spent down at Multimatic on the rig has paid massive dividends.

“Last time out at Snetterton we were second all day on the Saturday until the dreaded track limits call! Then she battled at the front with brand new cars during race three and grabbed a decent P2.

“With the Hybrid era fast approaching we have decided to make an early move to prepare ourselves for the next chapter of the BTCC and future proof the team moving forward. So, with a heavy heart I will be trying my upmost to send her off with a trophy or two!”
