Rasmus Hedberg first 2021 entry as STCC expect increased grid size

Rasmus Hedberg is the first confirmed 2021 entry as the STCC TCR Scandinavia organisation has opened entries for the coming season.

And the STCC organisation is expecting a bigger field compared to the 2020 season that featured 14 full-season entries.

“It feels just right that a debuting junior is our first entry and it will be interesting to follow his progress in the STCC,” said Micke Bern, CEO of STCC.

“We had 14 cars for full season this year and based on the indicated interest we are expecting a bigger field of around 18 cars for the 2021 season.”

18-year-old Hedberg raced in GT4 Scandinavia last year, finishing seventh overall, and will drive the Cupra TCR that Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky raced in the 2019 STCC.

“It feels really cool to step up to the STCC that I have followed since I was a kid and started racing,” said Hedberg.

“I tested an STCC car a couple of years ago, but this will be something new for me and we are going to test as much as possible as soon as the weather improves.”

Hedberg, who will drive for the family team FH Racing, will be eligible for the junior and privateer championships where he has got his sights set high.

“Our main task is to learn, the STCC field is really tough. But the ambition is to score consistently and hopefully claim the privateers’ title,” said Hedberg.
