Martin Andersen claims pole for Oschersleben season opener

Hyundai Team Engstler dominated the first qualifying session of the 2021 TCR Germany season at Oschersleben, with Martin Andersen and Luca Engstler locking out the first row.

Engstler dominated the session but Andersen pipped his team-mate with just three minutes left on the clock to take the pole position with a lap time of 1:30.625, 0.251 seconds ahead of Engstler.

Dominik Fugel, driving a Honda Civic Type-R TCR of Team Fugel, was third, followed by his team-mate Marcel Fugel, seven and eight tenths behind respectively.

Nico Gruber, driving a Hyundai i30 N TCR of Team Engstler, qualified in fifth place, with Jonas Karklys, also driving a Hyundai but of team NordPass, right behind, having set the exact same lap time.

René Kircher finished in seventh place for Volkswagen Team Oettinger, followed by Philipp Regensperger, driving an Opel Astra TCR of Lubner Motorsport.

Wimmer Werk Motorsport driver Peter Gross (Audi) and team-mate Eric Scalvini (Cupra) completed the top ten.

The start of Race 1 is scheduled for 12:40 CEST.
