Lestrup Racing Team planning test in search of replacement for Rob Huff

Reigning STCC TCR Scandinavia champion team Lestrup Racing Team is planning to hold a test to evaluate possible replacement drivers for Rob Huff, who elected against remaining with the team after signing a WTCR contract with Zengo Motorsport.

“We are working on a solution and we have more or less all options open,” said Fredrik Lestrup, co-owner of Lestrup Racing Team.

“We are looking at everything from not running a fourth car to finding a replacement driver who can fight for the title.”

The team is facing a tough challenge to find a replacement driver with the STCC season opener taking place at Ljungbyheds Motorbana in less than two weeks.

“We have in less than 24 hours received a lot of inquiries from interested drivers, both from Sweden and abroad,” said Lestrup.

“But there is so much that much align and time aspect does of course make things difficult, to be able to find a driver who does not have any clashes in their schedule.”

The team is considering running a test before the season start to try out potential new drivers.

“We are aiming to perform a test before the season opener to evaluate potential drivers and we are going to reveal more information when the conditions are right,” said Lestrup.

“We are not going to go into details on who we are talking to or not. But drivers with TCR and STCC experience does of course have a big advantage.”
