Eric Scalvini beats Luca Engstler to maiden TCR Germany pole position

Eric Scalvini claimed his first ever TCR Germany pole position for Wimmer Werk Motorsport at the Red Bull Racing, beating Hyundai driver Luca Engstler by over half a second.

The Cupra León Competición driver lapped the Austrian circuit in 1:36.443 and was 0.538 seconds faster than championship leader Engstler and 0.608 seconds faster than Honda driver Marcel Fugel in third.

Martin Andersen, who claimed pole for the season opener, was fourth fastest for Team Engstler, with Dominik Fugel right behind in fifth, just 0.037 seconds adrift.

Andreas Höfler put the Opel Astra TCR in sixth position for Lubner Motorsport, ahead of René Kircher in seventh for Volkswagen Team Oettinger.

Höfler’s team-mate Philip Regensperger rounded off the top eight and was the first driver over one second from pole.

The first race of the weekend in Austria starts at 12:10 CEST.
