Jessica Bäckman joins Brink Motorsport for Anderstorp
Jessica Bäckman will drive the second Audi RS 3 LMS of Brink Motorsport during the STCC TCR Scandinavia races at Anderstorp this weekend.
“It’s going to be really good racing in Sweden again, it’s two years since my last STCC race and that ended well with a podium,” said Jessica Bäckman.
“It’s going to be a proper challenge as I’ve had very limited preparations, but a challenge that I look forward to.”
The 24-year-old is racing for Target Competition in the WTCR this season as the first-ever female driver in the series, currently placed 21st.
She made her last STCC appearance in 2019, driving one-off race weekend at Anderstorp with Target Competition in a Hyundai i30 N TCR, finishing third in the final race.
Her last full STCC season was in 2018 for WestCoast Racing, finishing 19th overall.
“It’s really good to be able to welcome a WTCR driver to the team and we have followed Jessica’s progress in Europe over the last couple of years where she has shown strong progress,” said Ted Brink, team manager of Brink Motorsport.
“We’re looking forward to see what we can achieve together, although we have respect for the task with limited testing and preparations.”
Bäckman is going to drive the Audi that Kevin Engman drove to an impressive debut win two weeks ago at Gelleråsen as part of a driver evaluation programme ahead of 2022.
Bäckman is going to drive alongside regular driver and team co-founder Tobias Brink who is placed third overall.
