Anderstorp return set to stir STCC top fight
Anderstorp is host to the fourth STCC TCR Scandinavia round this weekend and the former F1 circuit is set to stir the top fight as the circuit has been absent from the calendar since 2019.
PWR Racing drivers Robert Dahlgren and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky have been in a class of their own for the first three race weekends, claiming six of nine wins and 14 of 27 podium finishes.
But the Cupra team has never raced with the León Competición at Anderstorp and Åhlin-Kottilinsky will carry more weight this weekend.
“Anderstorp is a special circuit with more of an international character. I think we can be strong here, but it won’t be easy as we’ve never raced here with our current cars,” said Dahlgren.
Audi driver Tobias Brink is closest to the Cupra duo in third spot of the standings and says the team has solved an issue with his RS 3 LMS.
“We have found and fixed an issue with the car that has hampered our results for the first race weekends this season. And Anderstorp usually is a circuit that suits us a lot better than Gelleråsen for example. I’m aiming for a win, we need to climb up in the standings,” said Brink.
Mattias Andersson, currently placed fourth, had a tough weekend at the twisty Gelleråsen circuit two weeks ago and hopes for better results as well at Anderstorp with his Lynk & Co 03 TCR.
“We lost some points at Gelleråsen unfortunately, but we feel strong for Anderstorp that ought to suit our car better as it’s more of an international circuit. We still have a lot to learn about our Lynk & Co, especially as we’ve never raced it here before. But I hope to be able to challenge for the podium positions,” said Andersson.
