Andreas replaces sister Jessica Bäckman for Mantorp Park

Andreas Bäckman is going to take over the wheel at Brink Motorsport from his sister Jessica for the STCC TCR Scandinavia races at Mantorp Park on October 2-3.

Jessica Bäckman joined the Audi team for the previous round at Anderstorp where she scored a second place finish in the third race.

“It feels great to welcome another world championship driver to the team and he has really shown progress while racing in Europe which has made him appear on our radar,” said Ted Brink, team manager for Brink Motorsport.

“We are of course humble ahead of our task as this is his first race in an Audi and his first race with us. But we are aiming high, we feel that there is potential to fight at the very top.”

Andreas Bäckman is, just as his sister, racing for Target Competition in the WTCR this season.

His last STCC season was in 2018 for WestCoast Racing, finishing 14th overall, and he raced in TCR Europe from 2019 to 2020, finishing fourth and sixth overall respectively.

“It will be great racing in Sweden again after three years of racing abroad only,” said Andreas Bäckman.

“Mantorp Park is a track where I feel comfortable, but as this is my first race in this car and with Brink Motorsport, it will be a tough challenge. But I look forward to it and will make my utmost to provide a strong result to the team.”
