Tobias Brink closes gap to Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky after qualifying

Tobias Brink gained a vital point on Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky in the fight for second place overall in the 2021 STCC TCR Scandinavia championship after qualifying at Knutstorp.

Ten points currently separate the two in favour of Åhlin-Kottulinsky, with the duo being closely matched during qualifying, finishing second and third in both sessions.

“After a difficult qualifying at Mantorp things felt a bit tough and I just wanted to put everything together today,” said Åhlin-Kottulinsky.

“I had the thousands on my side in Q1, but not in Q2. I am still happy and we have a strong position for tomorrow.”

Brink was second fastest behind pole sitter and newly crowned champion Robert Dahlgren in the Q2 session which awards points to the championship. Åhlin-Kottulinsky meanwhile was second fastest in the first session and Brink third.

“It feels great to be back and fight for the top positions again after a tough season. We had a good qualifying session today that have provided us with plenty of possibilities tomorrow,” said Brink.
