BTCC grid to remain at 29 for 2022 season

Series organiser TOCA has confirmed that the three TOCA BTCC Licences that were set to be loaned out for the 2022 season have been returned.

BTC Racing, Team Dynamics and Speedworks Motorsport were all set to run extra cars this year after being handed loan licences for a single year period back in December.

The first of those had already revealed that it had returned the loan TBL when it confirmed a continued three-car programme, but TOCA has now confirmed that both Dynamics and Speedworks have also elected not to use the loan licences.

As a result, the grid will remain at 29 cars – as has been the case in recent seasons.

The three teams will all be on track for testing at Donington Park on Tuesday, where most cars present will be running the new Cosworth hybrid system in what is being dubbed as an installation test.

All cars are expected to run with hybrid power by the time of the Croft test on 6 April.
