Robert Dahlgren heads Tobias Brink in first Ljungbyhed practice

Reigning champion Robert Dahlgren sent a clear message during the first free practice session of the STCC TCR Scandinavia opener at Ljungbyhed.

The Cupra driver beat title rival Tobias Brink (Audi) by almost three tenths, going well below the lap record with a time of 50.945.

Brink Motorsport claimed two of the top three places with Hugo Nerman in third, albeit close to eight tenths slower than Dahlgren.

The Lestrup Racing Team duo of Andreas Bäckman and Oliver Söderström were next 0.85 and 0.94 seconds behind respectively.

Lynk & Co driver Mattias Andersson was sixth fastest ahead of STCC newcomer Axel Bengtsson of PWR Racing while Isac Aronsson rounded off the top eight for Exion Racing.

There were a couple of spins during the sessions, primarily at the first corner. Honda driver Didrik Esbjug was forced to take avoiding action for Dejan Dragicevic. All drivers escaped damage to their cars.

New for this weekend is that the best total lap time from the two practice sessions will decide the start order for the one lap shoot out qualifying session, with the fastest driver starting last and the slowest first.

The second practice session starts at 16:30 CEST today.
