Hugo Nerman and Andreas Bäckman bounces back to Anderstorp poles

Hugo Nerman and Andreas Bäckman claimed one pole position each in qualifying for the penultimate STCC TCR Scandinavia round of 2022 at Anderstorp.

Brink Motorsport driver Nerman bounced back after crashing hard during the final practice session, beating Bäckman by a mere 44 thousands of a second.

Points leader Robert Dahlgren was third fastest, just 0.062 seconds from the Race 1 pole position.

Exion Racing driver Calle Bergman impressed with his so far best STCC qualifying result in fourth position, just below three tenths from pole.

Nerman’s team-mate Tobias Brink was fifth fastest ahead of PWR Racing driver Axel Bengtsson and MA:GP driver Mattias Andersson.

Disaster struck title contender Oliver Söderström who was knocked out of qualifying by STCC newcomer Christian Skaar and will start the first two races from ninth position.

The second qualifying session saw Bäckman climbing to the top of the timing sheets on his last attempt to score five valuable points to the championship, moving from fifth to second in the standings to trail points leader Dahlgren by 25.

Bengtsson impressed by setting the second fastest time, despite never before having raced at the Anderstorp circuit and missed almost all of the test sessions due to technical issues.

Nerman was third fastest in Q2 while a disappointed Dahlgren was fourth fastest, dropping a lot of time in one of the sectors, stating after the session that he was at a loss on the reason behind that.

Brink and Andersson rounded off the top six.

The first race of the weekend starts at 11:15 CEST.
