Mattias Andersson keeps in title fight after “better than expected” Anderstorp races

Mattias Andersson has dropped to third place in the STCC TCR Scandinavia standings, but is still in the title fight after the Anderstorp race weekend which he says went better than expected.

“Considering the circumstances with a heavy car, we’ve gotten a better result than expected from this weekend with two podium finishes,” said Andersson.

The MA:GP driver headed to Anderstorp in shared second place overall, 27 points from championship leader Robert Dahlgren, and left the race weekend 37 points adrift.

“Unfortunately we lost some ground on Robert [Dahlgren] and Andreas [Bäckman] in the standings, but we are third ahead of the finale on my home track where we still have a theoretical shot at the title,” said Andersson.

“Mantorp is a track which has historically worked well for us and I’m heading there with my sights set high.”

Andersson’s so far best overall STCC result is fourth in the 2010 season when driving an Alfa Romeo.
