Power Maxed Racing expands to run three cars

Power Maxed Racing has announced that it will expand its BTCC programme to run three cars for the first time after securing an additional TOCA BTCC Licence.

The Vauxhall squad has secured a licence that was previously used by Team HARD in a move that will see it add another Astra to the grid alongside those previously announced for Aron Taylor-Smith and series debutant Andrew Watson.

The identity of the third driver will be confirmed next week, although it won’t be either of the team’s 2022 drivers with Michael Crees yet to secure a drive for 2023 and Ash Hand having revealed on social media that he will continue working with Power Maxed Racing this year but in a non-racing role.

“It was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up,” team boss Adam Weaver said. “We’ve had plenty of driver enquiries and a big enough premises and all the kit to run another car. The economies of scale made it viable and helps further secure our long-term future in the BTCC.

“The timing was just right as we have developed many staff over the years from apprentices to engineers, and it gives them the ability to step up and take on more responsibilities and continue their career growth.

“Therefore, we are all looking forward to fielding three cars in the BTCC for the very first time.”
