Shaun Thong charges to victory in red-flagged Macau Race 2

Shaun Thong charged from tenth on the grid to win the final TCR Asia Challenge race on the streets of Macau, a race which was both safety car interrupted and red flagged.

Ryan Wong started from the reversed grid pole but was immediately overtaken by the Audi duo of Henry Lee Junior and Li Ka Hei.

Li Ka Hei then made the move for the lead at the start of lap two.

That lap also saw a very strong move by Team TRC driver Thong, passing both Hu Heng and Henry Lee Junior into Lisboa.

Honda driver Thong then set his sights on leading driver Li Ka Hei, making the move with four laps left to claim the lead.

The safety car came out on track due to two separate incidents as Hu Heng stopped at the Lisboa run-off and Li Wengji hit the wall at Turn 17.

The race resumed with one lap left, only to see the red flags come out as Wong Chun Hao Ryan spun and was collected by Lam Ka Chun.

Shaun Thong won the race ahead of Li Ka Hei, Lo Sze Ho, Paul Poon and Yan Chuan.

The victory means that Shaun Thong has qualified himself to take part in the Macau Guia race with the TCR World Tour season finale next weekend.
