Filipe Albuquerque set the pace in the first practice session of the 2012 DTM season. The Audi driver lapped Hockenheim in 1:34.508, just 0.025 seconds faster Audi colleague Mike Rockenfeller.
Edoardo Mortara, Timo Scheider and Miguel Molina made it an all-Audi top five, all drivers within 0.305 seconds.
Best non-Audi driver was Gary Paffett in the HWA Mercedes, just over three tenths from Albuquerque’s best time. DTM newcomer Robert Wickens was seventh fastest with team mate and former F1 driver David Coulthard in ninth. Christian Vietoris and Andy Priaulx, in the RBM BMW M3 DTM, rounded off top ten.
Mattias Ekström was final driver within one second of the session’s fastest time in eleventh while drivers like Ralf Schumacher, 17th, Augusto Farfus Jr, 19th and Bruno Spengler, 20th, were over a second behind.
