Timo Glock hits out at Roberto Merhi

BMW’s Timo Glock has called for the DTM’s organiser, the ITR, to penalise Mercedes’ Roberto Merhi following contact with himself and stablemate Martin Tomczyk during today’s race at Brands Hatch.

In the opening stages of the race, the Mercedes driver forced Glock onto the grass at Graham Hill hill, but there appeared to be no contact between the two cars.

However, the MTEK BMW driver has hit out at Merhi after the race and revealed to TouringCarTimes that the Spaniard caught his rear wheel in the incident. As a result, Glock wants to see him penalised for the next round at the Red Bull Ring in two weeks time.

“He’s just dangerous,” said Glock. “He caught my rear wheel and spun me on the grass.”

“Then you see what he did with Martin. I know he [Merhi] has had to go to the stewards, but I don’t think that’s enough.

“They should give him a five-place grid drop for the next race or something, because if there’s trouble, you can guarantee he’ll be involved.”

Glock eventually finished 14th, despite starting 10th.
