Bruno Spengler unsure on 2014 BMW team

BMW’s Bruno Spengler is unsure whether he will remain at the Schnitzer team for next season, despite taking the title with them in 2012.

After six seasons at Mercedes, Spengler won the DTM championship with Schnitzer in BMW’s 2012 DTM comeback year, but at the Nurburgring, he admitted is unsure whether he will be driving for the Freilassing based outfit next season, as it is up to BMW Motorsport and not him to decide which team he will drive for in 2014.

“I’ll be at BMW for sure, but whether it’ll be with Schnitzer or not, I don’t know yet,” Spengler told TouringCarTimes.

“We’ll find out later in the year, but I’m very happy with them, [so] I’m pretty positive and I don’t see any reason to change.

“It’s a great team and it feels like a family there; there’s a lot of history and I’m very proud to drive for the oldest BMW team, because they’ve been there since the beginning.

“I like all the guys there, so it’s a nice place to be. Everyone is really motivated and to be honest, to win the title with Schnitzer was a dream.”

After his second non-points finish in a row, Spengler dropped from second to fourth in the drivers’ championship, 39 points behind championship leader, Mike Rockenfeller.
