Paul di Resta: “I’m here to win and fight for the championship”

Formula 1 refugee, Paul di Resta, is aiming for the championship as part of his DTM comeback.

After losing his Force India seat at the end of the 2013 Formula 1 season, di Resta has chosen to return to the DTM in 2014 with Mercedes.

di Resta won the 2010 DTM title with Mercedes, and then switched to Formula 1 with Force India for 2011, and remained there until 2013.

“I’m here to win races and fight for the championship,” di Resta told TouringCarTimes. “I was the last person to win a championship here for Mercedes, and bringing the title back is one of the key reasons they have brought me here.”

di Resta added he feels the DTM is the series which will give him the most enjoyment from racing, despite being linked to an IndyCar drive for 2014.

“Racing is my job, but I’ve got to enjoy my racing.

“Coming back here is where I am going to enjoy it most.”

In addition to his 2010 title, di Resta, who came into the DTM in 2007 as European Formula 3 champion, has taken six DTM career victories.
