Nico Müller fastest in Hungaroring test day two

DTM newcomer Nico Müller put Audi on top again in the second day of testing at Hungaroring. The Team Rosberg driver lapped the track in 1:37.505 and was four tenths faster than Audi colleague Mattias Ekström in second place.

“I’m absolutely delighted: that was a good debut for Audi and in the DTM. It’s a genuine highlight to be able to sit in the Audi RS 5 DTM here. It’s particularly important for me to see that I felt comfortable in the car and in the team from the very beginning,” said Müller.

Gary Paffett moved Mercedes up the order from yesterday with third fastest time today, just 0.015 seconds from Ekström.

Fellow Mercedes driver and former F1 driver Paul Di Resta was fourth fastest, with Marco Wittmann as top BMW driver in fifth position, seven tenths from Müller’s time in the top.

Antonio Felix da Costa, who topped the first half of the day, was sixth fastest for BMW Team MTEK.

Two further BMW drivers followed in positions seven and eight in the form of Joey Hand and former DTM champion Bruno Spengler. Russian Mercedes driver Vitaly Petrov was ninth fastest, posting a best lap time of 1:38.781.

Testing continues tomorrow.
