Joey Hand kept BMW on top for the third consecutive ay of DTM testing at Hockenheim. At the final test before the DTM season starts on May 4, the RBM BMW driver set a time of 1:32.658 to keep BMW at the top of the timesheets for the third consecutive day.
Once again, it was an Audi in second with Edoardo Mortara, while former DTM champions Martin Tomczyk and Timo Scheider wound up third and fourth respectively for BMW and Audi.
Mortara’s Abt Audi team-mate, team returnee Miguel Molina, set the quickest time of the morning but had to make do with a 1:33.427 to finish fifth ahead of of Maxime Martin’s BMW M4 DTM.
Martin headed a DTM rookie 1-2-3 to finish ahead of Audi’s Nico Müller and Vitaly Petrov who was the best placed Mercedes driver in eighth.
Mercedes also propped up the bottom of the timesheet with the HWA run C Coupes of Pascal Wehrlein, Robert Wickens and Gary Paffett ended the day in 10th, 11th and 12th.
