Timo Glock rues lost DTM podium

Ex-Formula 1 driver Timo Glock has left the fifth round of the 2014 DTM season in Moscow ruing a lost podium.

Glock, who joined the BMW DTM programme in 2013 and won the 2013 DTM season final at Hockenheim, showed good pace at the Moscow Raceway, and ran in the top-three until the final stages of the race.

While a suspected mistake on lap 44 let the Audi of double DTM champion Mattias Ekström and BMW stablemate Marco Wittmann through into third and fourth respectively, Glock revealed his BMW M4 DTM was suffering a fuel-feed problem.

“It is a real shame, as I could obviously have been on the podium today,” Glock lamented post-race. “However, I suffered a massive drop in fuel pressure in the final stages of the race.

“There were signs of this happening after the safety car phase and I noticed that the engine was no longer getting the fuel it needed.

“In the end I had no chance at all, so this is painful, as we were within touching distance of a one-two-three for BMW.”

Glock eventually finished sixth behind the Audi RS 5 DTM of Nico Müller.
