Joey Hand gets post-race penalty for unsafe release

Joey Hand has been given a 30-second post-race penalty by the stewards after the DTM race at Nürburgring. The penalty drops the American from 14th position to 17th.

The BMW Team RBM driver received the penalty for an unsafe release by his pit crew during his stop on lap 25.

The stewards announced that he was under investigation during the race and awarded the 30-second penalty after the race as a substitute for a drive through penalty.

Hand is currently placed 20th in the championship with two points scoring finishes so far this season.
