No team changes at Audi Sport for the 2015 DTM season

Audi Sport will not change the driver allocations for their challenge in the 2015 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season, thus keeping their premise that continuity will be the best bet in order to defend the Manufacturers’ crown.

The squad has just finished their traditional winter training camp in Allgäu, in readiness for a series of tests to prepare the season.

The main novelty for 2015 is that Audi will be assembling the DTM cars at their new state-of-art facility, the Competence Center Motorsport, in Neuburg, definitely leaving Ingolstadt. It is crunch time for Audi, who snatched the Manufacturers’ title in 2014 after a sensational end of season by Mattias Ekström.

The 2015 DTM season will feature a new racing weekend format, yet to be announced by series promoter ITR, with two races to be held on Saturday and Sunday, presumably with a separate qualifying session for each of them. Dieter Gass considers preparation key for the new, action packed, race meetings in 2015:

“It’s the first DTM weekend to feature the new format we’re all very excited about and that we’re going to continue to intensively prepare for in the next ten weeks. More than ever before, well-practiced routines and perfect form on the day will be crucial,  and now not just in one but in two races per weekend.”

The Audi Sport driver line up and team allocations remain the same for the upcoming season:

Team Abt Sportsline: Mattias Ekström, Miguel Molina, Edoardo Mortara and Adrien Tambay.
Team Phoenix: Timo Scheider and Mike Rockenfeller.
Team Rosberg: Jamie Green and Nico Müller.

Audi will start their testing campaign in Portimao from March 2 to 4 with two cars. They will then move to the first official test in Estoril, taking place in March 25 to 27 with Molina, Green Rockenfeller and Tambay. On the other side, Ekström, Mortara, Müller and Scheider will be at the wheel in the second official testing in Oschersleben, scheduled for April 14 to 16.

The 2015 DTM season will start in Hockenheim, from the 1st to the 3rd of May.
